AŞIKLI HÖYÜK
AŞIKLI HÖYÜK SITE CONSERVATION PLAN
Archaeological excavations aim to acquire sociological, technological and ecological information about past cultures, after strenuous and years-long studies. As a result of excavations, parts of the finds brought to light from sheltered environments under the ground that cannot be transported to museums are destroyed in a short time due to external factors such as wind, snow, rain, temperature change and erosion. Since the excavations, which are mostly carried out in the summer months, continue for years, it is necessary to protect the studied areas without being destroyed until the next working season.
A site protection plan has been prepared for the Aşıklı Höyük archaeological excavation site, with the aim of ensuring the safety of the archaeological finds and their permanent display for site visitors while the long-term archaeological research continues.
The applications determined in the Site Protection plan will be carried out step by step, by providing the necessary resources and in line with the proposed program. The site protection plan provides for the preparation and programming of this process. The site protection plan is to be revised and updated in line with the findings to date, in the term that the archaeological excavation team deems necessary.
As a result of the archaeological excavations carried out to date, mudbrick remains have been unearthed in Aşıklı Höyük. Due to its nature, mudbrick remains are rapidly affected by weather conditions such as wind and rain. Within the framework of the site protection plan, it was aimed to protect, exhibit and examine the mudbrick remains by using different methods.
The Aşıklı Höyük Visitor Center and Landscaping Conservation Project was prepared in line with these principles.
